Federal Reserve chairman Janet Yellen noted during her testimony yesterday that the U.S. home sector is showing signs of slowing growth. ETFs in the sector responded accordingly.
The period of seasonal strength for the S&P/TSX Metals & Mining Index has ended. Technicals for the Index have started to deteriorate.
Technical Action Yesterday by Individual Equities
Despite gains by broadly based U.S. equity indices, technical action by S&P 500 stocks was mildly bearish. Nine S&P stocks broke support (CTSH, FMX, GT, KSS, LB, MSFT, PRGO, TSCO, WFM) and six broke resistance (BDX, CI, DE, HUM, PXD,TAP)
Notable among TSX 60 stocks were National Bank and Talisman. National Bank broke to a six month high. Talisman responded to better than expected quarterly results.
