Hitachi’s Digital Reinvention: From Hardware Giant to AI Powerhouse

by SIACharts.com

Shares of Hitachi recently entered the favored zone of the newly created SIA International CDR Report, where the full and growing list of Canadian Depository Receipts is housed on the SIA platform. This rally in relative strength is captured in the attached matrix position chart, where they moved into the green zone in late April. Given this tidbit of data from the millions of nightly calculations completed by the SIA platform, we wanted to dig into the more extensive and longer-term data feed that the ADR version (HTHIY) might provide—and the details are noteworthy. Hitachi has undergone a remarkable transformation by shifting its company strategy to focus on digital innovation and sustainable solutions, driven largely by its new platform, Lumada.

This platform integrates advanced data analytics, artificial intelligence, and IoT technologies to help businesses optimize operations and drive smarter decision-making. By pivoting from a traditional hardware-centric model to a solutions-oriented, digital-first approach, Hitachi has positioned itself as a global leader in social innovation, aligning its growth with the evolving needs of industries and communities around the world.

When we review the monthly candlestick chart, it appears that the investing community is taking note of the changes—especially since early 2024, when shares rallied from $12 to as high as $28, but stalled during the tariff-influenced sell-off in early 2025. On each monthly candle, however, take note of the long lower wicks, where buyers overtook any selling pressure down to the $22–$23 level, which is highlighted by the lower green line. The upside has also been influenced by sellers at the $28 level, with long upper wicks as well, but the latest candle might be attempting to challenge these levels, which we have highlighted with a green circle.

The attached point and figure chart paints a similar picture to the monthly candlestick chart but does so with more precision, offering more specific levels to monitor. Here, $28.42 and $28.99 might become significant from a resistance point of view, while $24.75, $23.78, and $23.23 may define the near-term trading range. Meanwhile, $18.75 is the lower range that would need to hold should conditions become challenging in the overall market once again. But with regard to near-term readings, we turn to the SMAX score of 7 out of 10, which is a positive secondary reading of relative strength against a basket of all asset classes. Finally, of note is the minor point and figure downtrend (black line) that has formed in the early months of 2025, where a move through this level ($27.32) might provide an early warning that buyers are again taking control of the share’s pricing.
