The year 2023 will be known as the year of the recession that never happened. There was a large number of pundits claiming that a recession would occur in 2023, including myself. In the end, the amount of leftover liquidity that was pumped into the system during COVID and government spending helped to prop up the economy, despite many signals that the economy was slowing. As the economy muddles along, consumers and governments alike are keeping it alive with their “Buy Now Pay Later” (BNPL) attitude.
So what comes next?
