World Stock Market Performance YTD (Bespoke)

With Europe crumbling this week, the US has moved way up the list of best performing countries year to date (local currency).  As shown below, the US equity market (S&P 500) now ranks 12th out of the 78 countries we track.  The US is also now the top performing G7 country so far in 2011.  Germany ranks second of the G7 countries with a gain of 3.76%, and the other five are actually now in the red for the year.  With all of its problems, Italy is down the most of the G7 countries in 2011 with a decline of 8.24%.  Russia is still the best performing BRIC country year to date with a nice gain of 8.44%.  The other three BRICs (China, Brazil, India) are all down year to date, with Brazil down the most at -13.83%.
