Tesla Inc. appears to be under increasing relative pressure within the SIA S&P 100 Index Report, where it now sits in the unfavoured zone at 64th out of 100 positions. The stock has slipped 13 spots over the past month and 59 spots over the past quarter, which may suggest its relative strength trend has weakened meaningfully against peers in the broader large cap universe. While its one year return remains notably strong, more recent performance indicates momentum has cooled and the shares may be entering a more vulnerable phase.
From a sector perspective, Tesla is working against a challenging backdrop. Automotive is currently an unfavoured sector within the SIA Sector Report, ranking 28th out of 31 sectors. That weak sector positioning may continue to weigh on the stock’s ability to regain leadership, particularly if capital continues rotating toward stronger areas of the market.
That said, Tesla’s most recent Point & Figure signal is a Low Pole Warning, which may suggest the prior column of Xs has held a meaningful portion of its advance and could indicate underlying strength is still present within the broader trend. Near term support is located at $390.94, with additional support at $361.17. Below that, trend level support appears at $314.42. On the upside, a 3-box reversal would be needed to clear resistance at $431.63, while a more significant ceiling may be found near the 2025 high level of $495.80.
Tesla currently carries an SIA SMAX score of 1 out of 10, which reflects a weak technical profile across key trend measures. Over the past month the stock has fallen 4.48%, slightly underperforming the S&P 100 Index decline of 3.60%. Over the past quarter, Tesla has dropped 18.74%, which is materially weaker than the benchmark’s 4.36% decline. Over the past year, however, Tesla remains ahead on a longer term basis with a gain of 74.33% versus 19.48% for the S&P 100 Index.
Tesla Inc. is a vertically integrated technology company spanning electric vehicles, energy storage, and AI-driven systems, led by Elon Musk. Its core offerings include mass-market EV platforms, proprietary battery and charging infrastructure, and increasingly advanced driver-assistance and machine learning capabilities. Through this integrated approach, Tesla has significantly influenced both the automotive and energy sectors, positioning itself as a central force in the shift toward electrification and software-defined mobility.
At this stage, Tesla appears to remain in a technically weakened position despite its strong longer term return profile. With the stock lodged in the unfavoured zone, sector conditions soft, and recent relative movement trending lower, the shares may need to stabilise above support and reclaim resistance before a more constructive outlook can emerge.
