Advisors and the investment industry have faced numerous headwinds to their traditional business models. The advent and wholesale growth of adoption of (inexpensive) ETFs coupled with the industry's CRM2 regulation, mandating full investment costs disclosure to retail investors, has resulted in a combination of both competitive and regulatory challenges. While these challenges are indeed very positive, in a very short span of time, advisors have had to transform the way they do business, and the way they get compensated.
