ETF Selection: Choosing the Right Players for Portfolios
by Bob Simpson, Synchronicity Performance Consultants
February 29, 2016 - Today, we took a light-hearted approach to comparing ETFs to help choose the right selection for a portfolio. As today is the National Hockey League trade deadline, we took the approach that an NHL general manager would take in choosing a player to help him add a final piece for a run for the Cup.

February 22, 2016 - Are we being spooked out of high quality stocks with strong earnings trends by watching the activity of market indices, such as the S&P 500? Indices provide investors with broad exposure which is a good and a bad thing. The good is that it better diversifies, which reduces risk. The bad is that it exposes us to market sectors that are trending lower (earnings and price). The S&P 500 earnings, without energy exposure, have increased at a moderate rate over the past year, but with energy, earnings have declined by over 12%. Should we be letting energy stocks negatively influence our decision to buy stocks that have no energy exposure or that could benefit from lower energy prices?
