Responses to Second Quarter Reports
Responses have been mixed at best. Selected financial service stocks (Goldman Sachs.JP Morgan, Citigroup) and Intel have responded to better than consensus second quarter results. Many more moved lower after reporting including Johnson & Johnson, Bank of America, US Bancorp, PNC Financial, Abbott Labs, St. Jude Medical as well as Yum Brands after the close yesterday. Sell on news (unless blowout results are released)?
Activity in Individual Equities
Technical action by S&P 500 stocks was bullish yesterday. Thirteen S&P 500 stocks broke resistance (DISCA, IGT, SNI, VIAB, APC, HAL, KMI, GE, HON, JOY, EA, MU) and five stocks broke support (FOXA, MCD, USB, ABBV, JNPR).
Among TSX 60 stocks, TD broke to an all-time high and Fortis broke resistance to reach a 16 month high.
