High Yield Credit Spreads Move into the Stratosphere

Despite yesterday's all time 10%+ record one day rally, high yield credit spreads did not get any relief. According to Merrill Lynch data, spreads actually rose from Friday's highs, though marginally, to 1538 pts. over comparable treasuries. Companies with less than investment grade ratings seeking new capital will have to pay in the region of 20% interest per annum.
