Did Bernie Madoff & Ian Thow Go Financial Postal?
Saturday, February 28th, 2009
Canada’s Ian Thow was arrested in Portland, Oregon and Bernie’s Madoff has Canadian clients on his list.
What makes Bernie Madoff & Ian Thow tic?
Were Bernie and Ian inspired by the values of contribution, education and service?
If Bernie and Ian were, I supposed they would have put their clients first.
Were Bernie and Ian motivated by the unmet needs of approval, recognition, safety and worthiness which caused them to get their unmet needs met at any cost?
Is it impossible to meet the unmet needs of approval, recognition, safety and worthiness outside of oneself using money as medication?

Financial Advisor Speaking Parable
Friday, February 27th, 2009
The following 4 minute, 12 second Financial Advisor Speaking Parable video is the story or parable that I tell at the beginning of every financial advisor speaking presentation that I deliver.
A parable is a true storey about a tough time that one has gone through where one used inspiration and motivation to triumph in the end. I become more real to my financial advisor speaking audience because they get that I been there just like them.
“Storytelling is a primary means by which we convey what we do, especially in financial services where it’s hard for purchasers and prospects to understand precisely what it is that you do and the value of what you do.”

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009
Today’s the day that I am doing free financial advisor coaching and as you will see from this picture I am stretching my comfort zone and filming the financial advisor coaching calls to create vlogs that I can post on UTube and my blog … so it will not be long before I will be posting 2 – 5 minute financial advisor coaching video logs on my blog.
Life is like a box of chocolates and you never know what you are going to get so I will be greeting six financial advisors with “how can I help”! It will be interesting to see what vlog financial advisor coaching solutions arise.

Web 2.0 Financial Advisor Marketing
Friday, February 20th, 2009
Mark Noble’s February 2009 Advisor’s Edge Magazine article Generation Y - The newest breed of advisors doesn’t rely on Facebook to collect clients talks about the Generation Y financial advisors that are using STP to attract their clients.
STP – See The People, like the old days and get out there on the road and go face to face to build your financial advisor client relationships which you can manage with Web 2.0 financial advisor marketing using parts or all of The Marketing Funnel.
I agree, get out there and tell 10,000 people which is part of The Marketing Funnel.

Morgan Stanley’s and Citigroup’s Smith Barney’s Retention Bonuses
Sunday, February 15th, 2009
Campbell Brown’s CNN commentary about Morgan Stanley’s and Citigroup’s Smith Barney’s so called bonuses caught my attention on Wednesday night.
Morgan Stanley and Citigroup’s Smith Barney are two of the companies that are taking bailout dollars and it is being reported that they are using some of the money to supposedly bonus their financial advisors.
The highlights of Campbell’s storey are as follows;
• Brown: Banks reportedly giving “retention awards” to employees
• She says awards are bonuses, given by firms accepting bailout money
• Brown says that’s wrong, to the tune of up to $3 billion in bonuses

Strategic Quitting 2.0
Wednesday, February 11th, 2009
The Pursuit Of Excellence reminded me to engage Seth Godin’s notion of Strategic Quitting from his book called The Dip and this means;
- Daily blogging – while I enjoy daily blogging, it is something that I committed to doing when I started my blog back in December of 2004. Now the blogging time is distracting me from A Much Bigger Picture
- Writing publication articles – I believe in STP, See The People and the bottom line if it is going to be it is up to me and I have a big vision and a big message and it needs to be delivered in person to MGA firms and life insurance companies to attract the speaking and workshops that we want to do

Financial Planner Coaching – Evolution Or Intelligent Design?
Wednesday, February 11th, 2009
As we approach Darwin’s 200th birthday on February 12th, and to embellish a quote from journalist and satirist H.L. Menken …
With a significant amount of financial planners that don’t have a written vision, business plan, 90 day goals and time management plan …
“It is hard for the ape to believe he descended from a financial advisor that doesn’t have a written vision, business plan, 90 goals and time management plan”.

A Much Bigger Picture
Sunday, February 8th, 2009
Laura and I completed The Pursuit Of Excellence over the weekend and I can’t say enough about the workshop. It was great to be on the other side of the stage for a change to invest 34 hours to enhance our personal and business lives.
The benefits are numerous and the best one was to be reminded that I am so lucky to be in love with a woman that deeply loves me right back.
I’m reminded that as I approach my birthday, my intuition is magnified and this year it is ringing off the hook.

Changing Behavior
Sunday, February 8th, 2009
I am a great believer in taking the time to appreciate ones blessings by writing out the things that one is thankful for in their journal.
This has been a bountiful month having had the privilege to travel nearly 27,000 km to speak with hundreds of financial advisors in 6 cities right across Canada receiving loads of great financial advisor speaker testimonials. There’s a load more to say about what we can celebrate.
By far, the biggest success at the advent of this New Year was my behavior change with time management and with what I call OCTDLD; obsessive compulsive to do list disorder.
